This pendulum balance allows the temperature dependence and anisotropy of the susceptibility of a sample of mass 0. 2-3 g to be measured in the temperature range 290-2200 K. The results of the measurements are recorded continuously by an x-y recorder. The balance can be used to study both chemically neutral and corrosive objects with a specific magnetic susceptibility of 10** minus **5-10** minus **9 m**3/kg. The use of an inductive transducer to damp the oscillations of the pendulum has enhanced the sensitivity of the follow-up system with a photoelectric transducer, which is a dc amplifier. The threshold sensitivity of the apparatus is 6 multiplied by (times) 10** minus **1**2 m**3/kg and the measuring error is less than equivalent to 1%.
