In an attempt to rationalize the fuel efficiency, a thermodynamic analysis of a glass furnace was performed with special reference to flue gas heat recuperation. The thermal balance of the furnace was worked out to demonstrate the reduction of fuel consumption and output increase resulted from such a recuperation. Different types of recuperators are considered.
