摘要：
This paper presents a survey on the application of computers to urban traffic surveillance and control. It is shown that most applications to control problems may be considered as levels of a general three-level control hierarchy. This is illustrated for freeway traffic, urban street traffic and public transportation systems, as well as for new modes of urban transportation. The paper tries to present an overview of the proposed or used concepts and methods of control and the results obtained in real applications or expected from simulation runs.
