SYSTEMS APPROACH TO THE DESIGN OF NON-FERROUS METALLURGICAL PLANTS.

The design of successful process plants depends on the understanding of the unit operations and their interactions, which is the discipline of systems engineering. With the advent of increased process intensification the importance of a systems approach to process design and implementation becomes paramount. This paper describes the systems approach with specific reference to medium scale projects in the primary and secondary metallurgical industry.
