The distribution of the sulfur coal of type Zh//2//1 of the Chaikino pit, bed m**3, between its two main forms - pyritic and organic - in the initial coal, the fraction soluble in acenaphthene, and the 'residual' fraction has been studied by chemical methods of analysis. Analysis of the ash of the types of coal mentioned above for their Fe contents indicated that its amount was insufficient for binding the sulfur of the coal in the pyrite form. The results obtained indicate the presence in coals of a considerable amount of sulfur in the form of organosulfur compounds.
