Accurate static bottom hole pressures can be obtained on most oil wells by using the acoustic procedure outlined herein. The acoustic technique results in less time loss compared to wireline pressure bomb measurements. Acoustic bottom pole pressure measurements are much less expensive than wireline pressure bomb measurements. Acoustic pressure measurements are safe; the possibility of a fishing job is eliminated.
