This paper reviews selected features of advanced gas-cooled reactor (AGR) fuel pin design. Cladding design and performance, and fuel pellet characteristics are discussed. The annular fuel pellet is designed both to minimize fission gas release and to reduce tensile strains in the cladding during power ramps.
