摘要
This paper deals with the problems involved in finding the magnetic field and magnetic force distribution acting in the working spaces of high-intensity and high-gradient magnetic separators. The working space of these separators is formed by ferromagnetic variform inserts (balls, furrowed plates), depending on the design of the separator. Calculation of the magnetic field distribution for a large aggregation of balls is extremely difficult, owing to the stochastic nature of the arrangement. In cases where the working space is filled with furrowed plates it is possible to calculate the magnetic force distribution by means of conformal mappings. For two infinite and isolated wedge spaces the magnetic field distribution is calculated by means of the Schwarz-Christoffel formula for the complex potential. For a system of spatially bounded wedges, using an analogous mathematical formalism, a formula for the complex potential is obtained in terms of Jacobi elliptic functions.
