A study is made of the effect of additions of coal, limestone, and fluidized bed furnace cinder to a copper concentrate on the rate of melting of the charge in a reverberatory furnace. It is suggested that a method of feeding commercial oxygen directly onto the surface of the banks be used to increase the rate of melting of the charge and, consequently, the efficiency of the reverberatory furnace.
