摘要
Beam-to-column moment connections in steel frames have been traditionally designed by using the classical beam theory. The results of finite element analysis have shown that stress pattern in the vicinity of moment connections changes drastically from that suggested the beam theory. The magnitude and direction of principal stresses in the connection region are better approximated by using truss analogy. A practical and more rational analysis and design procedure is proposed in the article.
