Composites consisting of WC-Co particles embedded in a steel matrix were made by HIPing. Their wear resistance was measured in the laboratory and in sliding service conditions on a road pavement. The composites displayed good wear resistance especially in service. Their wear resistance is compared to that of WC-6Co cemented carbide.
