The theme of the world exhibition in Hanover last year was humankind, nature and technology. The Dutch architects of MVRDV together with ABT converted this idea to their spectacular design of layered landscapes. The Netherlands are characterized by a landscape made by humankind. The scenery is determined by gained land from the sea, dikes, the silhouette of a church tower or a modern skyline. Holland creates space: This is the motto. It is presented, that it is possible to expand in a sustainable way and create land not only in horizontal, but also in vertical direction. A man-made-country where nature services humankind and technology services nature to ensure and secure an enjoyable environment. The presented paper deals with the structure of this extraordinary building. Especially the design and construction of the dunes landscape and the tree level is described.
