The ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, Section III, Division 1, Subsection NE, Article NE-3000, Design, has recently been revised to clarify and reflect a design by analysis approach for containment vessels. The criteria and application of these analytical procedures are presented in this paper in light of stress report requirements of Section III of the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code. Emphasis is placed on the requirements of NE-3200.
