Progresses in studies on modification mechanisms of Al-Si alloys and morphology control of eutectic silicon

As a result of modification of cast Al-Si alloys, the morphology of eutectic silicon becomes more mechanically ideal. In this paper, an attempt is made to show the progress in this field. Main problems from previous studies are discussed and advances made in recent work of the authors dealing with these problems are presented.
