摘要
Understanding of the structure and chemistry of mesophase pitches is also important for production of needle coke and a number of other valuable carbon materials. In view of this an investigation was conducted. The main conclusion of the investigations was: the capacity of mesogenic admixtures for significantly decreasing viscosity on heating should be considered an important physical property. Thus the admixture covers a coal particle in a more or less uniform layer; its thickness between the particles of coking charge is very low. The activity of the admixture is also due to the properties of the coal treated. As a hydrogen donor, the admixture compensates the effect of the heteroatoms and the cross bonds of the coal structural units, stabilizing the radicals which form.
