PRECISION-CASTING FOR DIESEL ENGINE CASTINGS PRODUCTION.

Three novel precision casting techniques are described. The improvements in die performance and useful life extend the scope of the gravity diecasting process. Precision cast dieblocks, which require no machining on the impression-forming surfaces, can be made with lower labor costs and half the normal energy consumption. They also provide a higher surface finish and last twice as long as machined dieblocks.
