Combined coatings were produced by a preliminary thermo-diffusional metal treatment with zirconium and subsequent boron saturation of alloyed steel. An investigation was carried out of the influence of the combined zirconium-boride coating on steel on the tribological parameters under the condition of dry friction. The friction coefficient and wear intensity due to to-and-fro (alternating) and rotary motions were measured.
