摘要
The 2001 third quaterly cost report regarding recent price trends in the lumber industry is discussed. Lumber prices which accounts for 15% of the building cost index (BCI) but only 9% of ENR's BCI, explain the price fluctuations in recent months. Slack purchasing by buyers in anticipation of weak demand in housing sector in year 2001 led to production downsizing at the mills and insufficient inventories. The market showed a negative trend which resulted in lowering of lumber prices.
