This project has been initiated to map the terrain along a proposed gas pipeline route from the northwestern Arctic Islands to southern Canada. The report describes the surficial material and geomorphic processes on Somerset Island and the potential impact of the surficial geology on future land use activities; it also details the Quaternary history of the island. Surface geology maps of the Somerset Island are included.
