摘要:
If engineers are to be 'ethical,' they must expand their view of the design process so that in addition to considering alternative solutions to a given problem, they take an active role in helping society define and discuss the problem itself. By coordinating public discussion about technological issues, by practicing the classical art of rhetoric, engineers can gain an ethical 'middle ground' between mere technical excellence at one extreme, and setting a personal moral agenda for society on the other.
