摘要
Research is in progress on a single-cell protein (SCP) process from methanol. In the SCP processes, the fermentation microorganism plays the most important role. Up to date, 120 isolates of bacteria are available, from which 3 cultures with the best characteristics have been selected. The biomass density in these cultures is between 4 and 5 g/l which is sufficient in order to start batch and continuous culture experimentation in 141 fermentors. One of the isolates showed high-viscosity properties due to its capacity to synthesize a polysaccharide. This culture was studied independently.
