DC electric arc furnaces are noted to have a complex of ecological, economical and technological advantages over the AC ones. These advantages are determining for the outlook of their application. The melting process in DC furnaces has such specific features as metal heating by only one high-power electric arc, more slight gas exchange between furnace volume and the atmosphere etc. DC electric furnaces are used for production of a number of steel grades. Certain of them are as follows: 10KhN20T3R, KhN38VBT, KhN77TYuR, KhN45MVTYuBR, 03Kh11N10M2T, 03Kh12N10MTR, 03Kh11N82F, 06Kh16N15M3B, 07Kh12MFBR, KhN55MVTs, 03Kh20N16AG6, R6AM5, 20Kh, 12KhN3A, 40Kh, 40KhN.
