Many countries of the world are now promoting the development of technology to use solar energy, geothermal energy, wind power, etc. as alternative energy sources to replace the oil which currently occupies the major portion of the energy supply sources. Since a large amount of energy can be easily obtained from geothermal energy as heat and electric power converted from this heat, geothermal energy will probably occupy an important part as a new energy source in the future. The features of a steam turbine for geothermal plants, as well as the research and development on geothermal power generation, are described as an introduction to Fuji Electric power generation technology.
