A statistical analysis is made of the components of the light scattering matrix of the aerosol disperse phase, as measured during the joint Soviet-American background aerosol experiment AFAEX-79 at Abastamani (Georgian SSR). The special features of the statistical characteristics which are inherent under background conditions are ascertained separately for day and night.
