Experimental investigations of small short-focus open resonators (OR) are carried out over a wide frequency band. The characteristics of these resonators that are common to and different from conventional long-focus open resonators are established. The spectral characteristics of short-focus hemispherical OR's, resonators with a reflection diffraction grating on a plane mirror, as well as OR's in a cylindrical screen are investigated. The characteristics of a diffraction radiation generator, constructed using a short-focus open resonator, are given.
