The development of more reliable and efficient solid-state sources up to the sub-mm-wave range has now stimulated new interest in commercial and military applications of mm-wave radar. This survey shows the wide variety of mm-wave radar systems. The principles underlying the basic radar types are explained, three different radar sets are described, and various specific applications are discussed.
