The nature of a coal influences appreciably its aptitude to hydrogenation. In this work, the specific surface and the porous structure of three lignite cokes with different reactivities have been analyzed. The results show that the differences in hydrogenation kinetics may be partly explained by the variation of specific surface and of micropore diameter.
