The state of the iron and steel industry in 1984 is reviewed. Major changes have occurred in the geographic distribution of production regions. In the last decade production has steadily increased in developing countries and has decreased in highly industrialized countries. Industrialized countries, consisting in the liquidation of unprofitable units and an increase.
