Performance analysis of MWOOCDMA/M-ary signaling system

In this paper, a theoretical investigation has been carried out to evaluate the performance of MWOOC'S using M-ary signaling in a OCDMA system employing multimode optical fiber. The performance is analysed in a multiuser interference (MUI) environment considering various noises such as modal noise in the optical fiber shot noise, APD bulk leakage noise, surface leakage noise, thermal noise in the receiver using the Gaussian approximation (GA) method. A two-dimensional (13x13,3,1,1) OOSPC using three wavelength (in the 825 nm range) that can support a maximum of 24 active users has been analysed for M=2,4 and 8 signals per user. The results suggest that M-ary signaling in the MWOOC'S is preferable to binary signaling for capacity enhancement of a OCDMA system.
