摘要
Removal of nickel from process baths has long been acknowledged as a standard requirement in operating electroplating baths. In spite of this, the currently used methods leave much to be desired. Thus, undivided electrolytic metal recovery cells are quite unsuitable for nickel recovery, although they are employed for this purpose. For effective nickel removal, with simultaneous anion recovery, a three-compartment cell is proposed. At pH values between 3 and 6, nickel concentrations can be reduced down to 20 mg/l. Used in combination with other types of cell, residual nickel concentrations as low as 1 ppm can be obtained.
