A study was made of the effect of the conditions of synthesis and the composition on the electric conductivity of the complex lanthanum and strontium cobaltite La//1// minus //xSr//xCoO//3 (x equals 0. 2-1. 0) in the temperature range from room temperature to 700 degree C. It was established that compositions with x equals 0. 3-0. 8 have the perovskite structure and, in addition, at room temperature possess approximately the same resistivity, a metallic conductivity and high values of the thermal expansion coefficient in the temperature range from room temperature to 550 degree C for alpha greater than equivalent to 0. 9 the perovskite partially decomposes, the resistivity sharply increases and the conductivity becomes semiconducting with an activation energy of 0. 07-0. 10 ev.
