Catalytic and electrocatalytic methane oxidation with solid oxide membranes

The present review covers only one aspect of the challenging area of heterogeneous catalysis, namely studies of methane oxidation performed with the aid of solid oxide membranes. Since most of these membranes are solid electrolytes, an overview of applications of these materials in catalysis is first given in the following section. Section III treats studies of methane oxidation focusing on the formation of products other than C2 hydrocarbons and Section IV deals exclusively with methane coupling.
