Federal Mogul Corp. 's Sinta Forge process is described that eliminates waste from the manufacture of bearings and ensures lower production costs and superior bearing performance. This successful method of producing PM bearing components which are subect to exceptionally high rolling contact stress during operation was developed during 15-year long-range R&D work. The primary advantage of the process is in material savings which average 50% on bearing cup and cone production. A secondary advantage is the greatly increased service life derived from cleaner, more homogeneous alloys.
