A new diagnostic testing method for plastic bottles is described that can answer some questions asked by packagers about the new techniques of orienting containers. The method, which is simple, inexpensive and rapid, can determine if an oriented container's basic properties have been improved; if the equipment is capable of making a 100% oriented container; and if the resin's tensile modulus can be improved by orientation to make a stiffer or more lightweight bottle.
