The Certification of a concrete platform requires an independent examination of the design and construction of an offshore structure. This paper confines itself to some aspects of the structural and foundation analysis of the Frigg CDP1 platform carried out by Lloyd's Register of Shipping. Originally the platform was designed to serve as a booster station on the Frigg to Peterhead pipeline. However, due to unforeseen circumstances, it was decided to use the platform for drilling and production in the Frigg Field itself. This analysis emphasizes foundation studies, including a detailed site investigation, laboratory testing of soil samples, finite element analysis and centrifugal model testing.
