A high performance integrated CMOS frequency synthesizer is presented. The circuit has been designed for high frequency, low voltage, low power applications. The design is fully integrated, including the loop filter capacitors on a single die. Fabricated in a 0.8 μm CMOS process, this circuit occupies an active area of 0.30 mm2. By arranging the reference frequency and adjusting the N counter, the on-chip synthesized frequency ranges from 1 to 600 MHz. With VCO operating at 300 MHz, synthesizer's 150 MHz output has a jitter of ±80 ps, power consumption is 18 mW with a 3.3 V supply.
