摘要：

This study is based on treating the parameters inherent in the beam. This has led to re-examining the well-known instruments in terms of how they effect beam splitting per se instead of classifying them in terms of the end result from the modified beam. Such factors as separation by polarization; separation by phase difference, division of the wavefront and amplitude division are examined.
