Steel St3 specimens were tested. The corrosion effect of a K//2SiF//6 additive is due to introduction of SiF//4, the source of reduced silicon, into the melt. The influence of a calcium additive, which reduces solution, is due to the higher adsorption of iron by Ca**2** plus cations.
