摘要
Fired process heaters consume fuel equivalent to about 5% of the crude oil run in petroleum refineries. Replacing the oil/gas fired in these heaters with coal could save over one-half million barrels of oil (or gas equivalent) per day. This study evaluated how coal fired process heaters can best be introduced into existing refineries. Conversion of existing oil and gas fired heaters to coal fuel is not envisioned as practical. Thus, to introduce coal firing refinery heaters must be replaced by units designed to fire coal, either on a one-for-one basis or bY a hot belt system with remotely located heaters.
