摘要
In common with most metals, titanium can be strengthened by various means. As a result, a broad variety of mechanical properties is available. The main purpose of the paper is to review the heat treatment of titanium. The word titanium is used here to include the various ″unalloyed″ varieties as well as commercial and developmental alloys. A further purpose is to present the heat treamtent of titanium in context with other strengthening methods so as to lend perspective. The first subject addressed is phase equilibria which provides the basis heat treat response. The sources of strength are then discussed as one sequences from pure alpha titanium through alpha plus beta alloys to the highly alloyed betas. Certain principles of heat treatment are then discussed. Refs.
