In this article, the U. S. Army Construction Engineering Research Laboratory (USA-CERL) shares its insights on the installation of an oxygen trim system to the central heating plant boilers of a military installation. It was suggested that checking damper travel, careful interfacing with boiler controls, protection against failure, pressure control in the combustion chamber and simulating controller operation must be part of the planning, setting-up and calibrating of the system to effect significant energy savings.
