The objective of this work is to use the direct numerical simulation technique to study the mechanics of three dimensional turbulent boundary layers, and to gain further insight into the above phenomena. The study is divided into two parts. The first, is to compute all the relevant single point statistical correlations including terms in the Reynolds stress budget equations and to determine the quantities that have undergone significant changes. This is the subject of this note. Second, the instantaneous flow fields will be examined to determine significant structural changes responsible for the behavior of turbulent statistics.
