摘要：
The density of states of quasiparticles in an anisotropic flat slab or half-space is calculated in the effective mass tensor approximation. The results obtained are used to find the surface contribution to the density of states which is proportional to the surface-to-volume ratio. Under certain conditions discussed in the paper, the surface contribution found remains valid for an assembly of small conducting particles of arbitrary shape.
