At its Research and Development Center, Westinghouse has experimented with the incorporation of composted refuse in asphaltic concretes. The experiments have indicated that approximately five percent compost in an asphaltic concrete produces a pavement surface with properties that would be acceptable as a wearing course. Cura brand compost, used in all tests, was manufactured from domestic refuse. Data on experimental mixtures and Marshall Test Values.
