The authors have demonstrated that in Al-Li alloys, where the volume fraction of Al//3Li( delta prime ) is practically the same as the mole fraction, the equivalence of these two concepts can be used to determine the composition of the delta prime phase with traditional techniques such as x-ray diffraction and quantitative metallography. The results clearly show that the delta prime phase loses its stoichiometry as temperature increases. 12 Refs.
