摘要
Concentration profiles and mass-transfer rates are calculated theoretically for a vaporizing area on a large flat surface having a fully developed turbulent boundary layer assumed to be stationary, homogeneous, adiabatic, and barotropic. The range of Schmidt numbers covered is 0. 72-20. The mass flux at the surfaces is correlated empirically and should prove useful in understanding and interpreting the vaporization of chemicals, including pesticides, water, or ice, under some field conditions. The vaporization rate from an area is found to be proportional to the 0. 65 power of the wind speed, to the 0. 71 power of the length of the area in the flow direction, and to the diffusivity with a power ranging from 0. 4 to 0. 5.
