Basically, 80% of ferrous metals are cleaned in aqueous spray washing equipment, and almost 80% of nonferrous metals are cleaned in degreasers. Complicated parts usually are cleaned in a degreaser, since solvents can clean in hidden areas, whereas a spray washer cleans by direct impingement. The merits of various solvents, properties, safety precautions and energy requirement of vapor degreasing are discussed.
