In this paper the experimental results of the preparation of a new Co-Fe3O4 magnetic fluid by a chemical method have been described. If the selection of active agent and carrying liquid are proper and the distributed proportion to the magnetic grains is reasonable, the Co-Fe3O4 magnetic fluid with strong magnetism and good stability can be prepared. The optimal technological conditions were determined. The Fe3O4 magnetic fluid prepared under the same operating conditions were compared with Co-Fe3O4, the result show that the saturation magnetization of Co-Fe3O4 is far more greater than that of ordinary Fe3O4. It provides a scientific basis for the preparation of high quality magnetic fluid.
