摘要：
This paper defines the understanding of sentences as an extraction and organization of information requested for the next intelligent act from sentences. The act of question answering based on the input sentences is used and the basic process of sentence understanding, knowledge representation for sentence understanding, and the method of application for each of these, are examined. On the basis of this examination, an experimentally developed system is reported.
