Just-In-Time (or JIT) manufacturing - the art of replenishing stock only when it has been consumed - can only be achieved by creating the right environment within a company. The layout of a factory must be kept in use all the time so that as soon as it drops off one load of materials it picks up another. Parts must be kept readily at hand so that an operator does not need to keep bending down or moving around to pick them up.
